ANGHU – ANGST – FEAR
[Indo-European „beengend“–confined, restricted; from 8th century Old German „angust“]

In 2020/21, we engage as a collective in a formal discourse on the topic of loss of reality. In terms of content, we focus on the loss of individual realities as well as hitherto collectively defined realities. In the pandemic, the socially, politically and financially secured space of many is threatened. In addition, there is the disintegration of analog forms of communication and the disintegration of corresponding communication parameters that we have been accustomed to for years. Suddenly, we find ourselves in a previously unfamiliar, confusing, not clearly defined digital space.
The lack of synchronicity of spatial and sensory experience leads to isolation of the individual – often to | ANGHU | Angst, old german for ‚constricting‘.
At the same time, we see the chance to enter a previously undefined OPEN FIELD, especially in this newly developing digital space.
The attempt to dissolve the duality of surface and space also relativizes our limitation to a chosen format: oriented to the content, we freely choose between all formats available to us, including para-streaming, which we have developed.
In para-streaming, shifts in time, space, and the relationship between digital and analog planes are handled flexibly.
The development of para-streaming began earlier in the year, as part of our Musikfonds-funded project HORIZONS OF A BIRD. This format research focused on the shift from reality to fiction and from temporal orientation. In HORIZONS OF A BIRD, streamed live performance was mixed with pre-produced sequences, so that, for example times of day/light conditions at the same open-air venue suddenly changed.
The ANGHU project was composed of 24 episodes of changing formats and approaches, following a set pattern. One member of the four-piece FrauVonDa// constellation was in charge of each episode.
