FrauVonDa
FrauVonDa// is an intermedia new music ensemble under the artistic direction of Claudia van Hasselt and Nicolas Wiese.
Since 2013, they have been creating transdisciplinary works through the interplay of music, science, and society.
With various international partners, the ensemble creates multi-sensory experiences dedicated to the unheard, unseen and yet-to-be-discovered – often without words, yet in diverse languages.
FrauVonDa// addresses socially and ecologically relevant topics, on an emotional and a cognitive level at the same time. Artistic creation is combined with research-based openness and an invitation to active involvement.
FrauVonDa// breaks down boundaries between genres, disciplines and geography – respectfully, empathetically, based on a broad spectrum of artistic skills.
FrauVonDa// is developing a constantly growing network of natural scientists, historians, musicians, activists and interested parties of the general public. At the heart of these projects is the idea of an inclusive, interactive community, welcoming a heterogenous scope of perspectives and sensual perceptions – anchored locally, cross-linked internationally.
With the interactive format senSONICtalk©, FrauVonDa// is creating an innovative junction between concert, scientific discussion, installation, and audience participation.

CLAUDIA VAN HASSELT
The mezzo-soprano is constantly developing new presentation formats, i.e. with her ensembles FrauVonDa// and طن-این TAN-IN. Building on classical singing traditions, she pushes the boundaries of genre, time, and space in her quest for a contemporary musical language. As a producer and singer, she unfolds stories through new music together with Iranian artists, along the Baltic Sea, in Banat, and of course in her homeland – singing at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, and the Ruhrtriennale, among others.

NICOLAS WIESE
The media artist and designer creates visual spaces and sound structures in motion. Together with diverse collaborators, he expands the concert setting in a transdisciplinary way. His detailed and literally multi-layered creations have taken him to festivals, museums, concert halls, movie theatres, galleries, clubs, squats and factory ruins throughout Europe, North America, Iran, Israel, Japan, and Turkey.
Wiese studied communication design, illustration, sound art, sociology, and philosophy in Hamburg and Berlin.
